Facebook Hacking through Android Applications

An Android application called the FIRESHEEP allows smartphones with running Google's Android Operating System can now be used to hack Facebook user's account and other social site services.

Over Wi-Fi networks when using the said application users can intercept web session profiles probably steal other user's credentials.

The developer of the siad application Bartosz Ponurkiewicz posted on his website.
"It's kind of like Firesheep for (Android). Maybe a bit easier to use (and it works on WPA2!),"  However the hacking is possible only if the the network is not using the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) and cannot be done if the user is in secure connection. He added "The phone where the app is to be used must also be rooted". For the mean time the latest version of the app can hack Twitter, Youtube, Amazon and Nasca-Klasa.

The application will only work with the following such as:

  • HTC Desire CM7
  • Original Droid/Milestone CM7
  • SE Xperia X10
  • Samsung Galaxy S
  • Nexus 1 CM7
  • HTC HD2
  • LG Swift 2X
  • LG Optimus Black - original rom
  • LG Optimus 3D - original rom
  • Samsung Infuse
The Mashable article said."While we’re not suggesting that any of our readers should use the app to hack someone’s account (it might even be illegal depending where you live), the sheer fact that such an app exists and is very easy to use means that you should be extra cautious when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks," .

Apple Hack: Macdefender Bypasses the new Apple Security Updates

Technology

After a month when Apple release its security update against the malware calld the MacDefender, the creator of the malware wasted no time to bypass the new security update with its new variation of Macdefender for just about eight hours after the said release according to the technology writer Ed Bott.

Bott posted on his site, "The bad guys have wasted no time. Hours after Apple released this update and the initial set of definitions, a new variation of Mac Defender is in the wild. This one has a new name, Mdinstall.pkg, and it has been specifically formulated to skate past Apple’s malware-blocking code,"

The new feature of Apple's updated security includes checking antimalware when downloading files from internet through its web browsers and other common paths like email and chatting.

He said, "It will be interesting to see how widely Apple publicizes this notice. It will be even more interesting to see how the authors of MacDefender and its variants respond,".
